Registered with the Maltese Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations as a Voluntary Organisation (VO/0325), our philanthropy is a core value — our social responsibility and privilege, giving us meaning and purpose.  Each year we raise funds for three to six Maltese-focused charities, carefully recommended by our Standing Committee for Philanthropy and accepted by the Executive Board.

In April, AIWM members visited Dar Merhba Bik Foundation to donate toiletries collected  at  our monthly meeting ‘Supplies Drive’.  The Foundation works with women who have experienced domestic violence, offering them a safe shelter, counselling therapy and support as well as helping them establish a way of life which best meets their future needs.

This month on Wednesday, 9 May, members will have the opportunity to tour Centru Tbexbix a preparations are underway to care for 50 children in their summer camp.  More information can be found on our Events page

During 2017 we supported five organisations:

Karl Vella Foundation, Attard

The Foundation provides educational and psychological assistance to children in families disrupted by illness. Recently, the Foundation renovated stables into small activity rooms and we provided cupboards for these newly renovated rooms

Europa Donna Malta, Floriana

By donating funds to Europa Donna’s advocacy, we help its efforts to bring an awareness of breast cancer and the importance of breast care in Malta through optimal breast cancer treatments.

SOS Malta, Santa Venera

With an aim to assist all peoples through projects of a social and charitable nature, SOS Malta started a local pilot project, called Volunteer Sliema, to help the elderly and disabled become more mobile and self-sufficient through the use of mobility scooters. AIWM raised funds to purchase two of the mobility scooters.

Dar il Kaptan, Mtarfa

Dar il Kaptan provides residential respite service and day service to any person with disability. Our funds supported renovation and improvement for the home’s single elevator. Our members also supported a supplies drive for food.

Centru Tbexbix, Bormla

For 11 years AIWM has supported the children’s summer camp, which/provides a place and programmes for joyful learning – a safe place to explore and to gain confidence, a place where children and young people meet to grow and achieve their potential, their personal best.

Dar Santa Tereza, Zurrieg

Members contributed basic necessity supplies for the babies and toddlers in this caring home.
