About Us

A Vital Organization — AIWM

Extending a Hand in Friendship

As we extend a hand in friendship to like-minded women of all nationalities, AIWM encompasses three aspects of vitality:

1)  Exuberant mental vigour:  By sharing our diversity with each other, our members stimulate each other with all kinds of thoughts, ideas and perspectives .

2) Capacity for the continuation of a meaningful or purposeful existence: Our members find friends, creating relationships that are a source of joy, support and learning.  Another source of satisfaction for our members is our focus on fundraising and giving back to local Maltese charities.

3) Power to live or grow: The vitality of our members is based on sharing experiences and special interests with each other.  We enjoy each other!

Finally, the keys to the on-going vitality of our association are member participation in the life of our association from enjoying monthly activities and events to sharing expertise and enthusiasm by volunteering for AIWM’s various leadership positions and committees.

Executive Board

The Executive Board consists of up to eight members who are responsible for managing the Association.  These volunteers hold these positions for a year. Members who are in good standing elect the Executive Board every year at a March Annual General Meeting.

There are four positions specifically elected by title, President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer and Membership Coordinator.  The four remaining positions’ titles and responsibilities are decided by the Executive Board after each election.

Standing Committees

Social Committee

AIWM’s Social Committee is a dynamic group, including members who organise and coordinate the monthly events and activities of the Special Interest groups, as well as members who arrange only one event each year.

All ideas for activities and events are welcome and members can join the committee at any time to help.

Member Outreach

This committee is a socially-oriented group, who enjoy extending a warm welcome to new members and guests, as well as, greeting and mingling among existing members at Monthly Membership Meetings and other AIWM activities.   They also seek and meet with potential new members from various referral sources.
